Revamp your resume - Recover from job losses

Although the burden of losing a job can feel daunting, there are several strategies you can do to regain charge of the situation, preserve your spirits, and find a refreshed sense of intent.
We fail to understand the reason why we were so committed to that job or the company? There are several commitments, that force us to stick with our organisations;

Affirmative Commitment
When an individual is loyal to their company, that implies that they choose to remain with their organisation. Usually, they agree with the company priorities, believe like they blend within the organisation and are pleased with their job. Employees that are affectively dedicated feel respected. Serve as representatives for their company and are usually essential assets for that particular organisation.

Continuance commitment
Possible explanations for the need to remain with companies differ, but the critical reasons for this are the shortage of job options and remuneration outside. A strong indication of continuance commitment is that the individuals are attracted to offers, wages and compensation. They think they find it hard to match those offers if they quit the job. Such instances can become a concern for companies and lead these employees frustrated and disengaged with their jobs and still are unable to leave the company; this will contribute for the employer to chose that employee during downsizing processes.

Normative commitment
The normative commitment refers to how long workers believe they can remain with their company. Employees that are normatively involved usually feel as they should stay with their organisations. Normatively dedicated workers believe, like quitting their company will have catastrophic implications. They will have a sense of guilt/belongingness at the prospect of leaving, would create a vacuum on the knowledge and skills, which would ultimately raise the burden on their colleagues. These emotions may and do have a detrimental effect on the efficiency of workers employed in organisations.

Understand what made you stick with the organisation? Did your commitment add any value? Though it is debatable, now its time to look for opportunities outside.  Your job loss is just a temporary setback! Allow yourself to grieve; however, make efforts to move fast towards the last stage of grievances – acceptance!.

 Set your mind for tolerance against insult and failure. Find other ways to define yourself, network for new employment, identify your prodigy's skill and leverage on the skills to become the leader of your own company, remember you are not alone, reach out to friends, families, colleagues, whom you feel comfortable. You must note that your profession should not determine who you are as an individual, so if you feel like you've been hidden beneath your career, now is your opportunity to realign your priorities and start a new chapter in life.  When life gives flame, be a phoenix. Good luck!
